Family Medicine Residency

Faculty

Dr. Jafri joined the residency program as Director in August 1998. Having been both Associate Director and Director of the UC Davis Family Practice Residency Program, she is an experienced residency administrator, .  Her special clinical interests are Geriatrics and Women’s Health.  She teaches ambulatory geriatrics. As Clinical Professor of the UC Riverside/UCLA Biomed Program, she coordinates the Doctoring curriculum for the first-year medical students.

Asma Jafri, MD

After graduating from the residency in 1985, Dr. Quan joined a private practice for a year, before he returned to the residency program as a faculty.  From 1989 to 2008, he served as Assistant Director.  He coordinates all the schedules as well as daily functions of the residency program.  He has an interest in ambulatory care.  He also precepts medical students from UC Riverside/UCLA Biomed Program.

Dr. Ho joined our program as a full-time faculty member in 1996.  He has a special interest in surgical procedures and in-patient medicine.  He organizes  the conferences and maintain all the electronic needs of the department. He teaches medical students in the UC Riverside/UCLA Biomed Program. 

Adolfo Aguilera, MD

After graduating from our program, Dr. Aguilera became part of the faculty staff in 2000.  As Director of Family Care Clinic, he has been involved in the Clinic Redesigning Project that improves clinic efficiency and patient care.  He has a special interest in Sports Medicine and has implemented a Sports Medicine Curriculum.  He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at UC Riverside for the UCR/UCLA Biomed Program and at Riverside Community College for the PA Program.

Faheem Jukaku, MD

Faculty Member

Dr. Jakaku is our newest addition to the faculty staff.  His areas of interest include inpatient care, procedures, and gastroenterology.  Currently he serves as a preceptor in the UCR/UCLA Bio-Med Program and coordinates our monthly journal quiz.  He actively supports a free local clinic, which serves an uninsured population.

Delia joined the Family Care Clinic staff in May 1999.  She worked as an RN in RCRMC’s emergency department for 11 years, and then went on to obtain her FNP license at UC Irvine.  After working at a private family physician’s office for two years, she came on board as our clinic’s Family Nurse Practitioner and assistant coordinator of the Geriatrics Curriculum.  She enjoys patient education and diabetic teaching, as well as coordinating the Geriatrics Clinic experience and home visits.

Lorraine Wellman, Ph.D.

Faculty Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Wellman joined our residency faculty in July 2006. She received her doctorate from the University of Rhode Island and trained at VA Medical Center, Long Beach. She has been involved in health psychology throughout her career. She is our Behavioral Science Director and leads the behavioral medicine didactic seminars, provides therapy to patients with Family Medicine residents, and coordinates the psychiatry / behavioral rotation in the community. Her special interests include panic and the anxiety disorders, and clinical depression.
